If you've been around me at all in the last couple months or so, you probably heard a little something about our Disney World trip... :D #sorrynotsorry
We stayed at Disney's Art of Animation resort in the Lion King suite. The room was themed, but the building also had some really cool set pieces (see the videos). Meg really liked her fold-out bed.
Our first day was Magic Kingdom with our friends the Rorings! Only Matthew and I (of the group) had ever been to Disney World before.
We were trying to get to Seven Dwarves Mine Train before lines got super long, but it was down when we got there, and Meg saw the carousel and instantly wanted to do nothing else, so we decided to hop on that while the line was short.
The whole day, she kept asking to go back to "the horsies." And with rider switch (one of us has to stay with Meg while the others stand in line for bigger rides), she actually got to a good three or four times. (And now I finally understand why there are always such long lines for that ride!)
The rest of us rode a whole bunch of rides. We actually did a pretty good job of hitting them all at times when lines were lowest, and I even got to do a few that I never had before!
I love how Meg looks possessed and my eyes are closed π
Big Thunder Mountain (line)
We also got to have lunch at Be Our Guest restaurant! We sat in the West Wing and got to see the Beast!
If there are scallops to be had at a restaurant, I will definitely order them. π
The kids' dessert came with edible paint to decorate the white chocolate teacup!
After hitting it hard at Magic Kingdom, we decided to hop quickly over to Epcot. The boys really wanted to ride Frozen Ever After, and we also hit a couple others while we were there.
On Tuesday, it was just the three of us. We had signed up to go to Epcot, which doesn't open till 11, so in the morning we went to Chef Mickey's. Meg got to see all her favorite Mickey Mouse Clubhouse characters up close.
Mickey and Minnie
Pluto and Goofy
The restaurant is usually a buffet, but with COVID restrictions, instead they just brought us the ENTIRE menu. We stuffed ourselves silly and still couldn't finish, haha.
Loaded potato casserole and
banana bread French toast
The breakfast includes a signed card from all the characters!
After breakfast, we went to Epcot. Meg wasn't too interested in rides, so we spent most of our time exploring the World Showcase. Also, it was literally the same temperature in Florida that day as it would have been in Utah, so it was probably for the best that this was our shortest park day (we started late and then also went back to the hotel in the afternoon for Meg to have a nap).
Joy from Inside Out
Mexico Pavilion Italy Pavilion
(my favorite—more on that later)
In Morocco Pavilion, Meg decided she wanted hot chocolate and managed to charm a free one out of the restaurant manager. (They don't serve hot chocolate; we think he just pulled something out of the break room... πIt was very sweet though.)
We found a Photo Pass photographer in Japan and took some fun family pics
They also had some fun extra food offerings for the Epcot Festival of the Arts.
This is my "sushi donut." π
On Wednesday, Brittany's family graciously agreed to watch Meg for the day (and even overnight) so that we could have an adults-only day!!!
We started off in Star Wars Galaxy's Edge.
VR tends to make me sick, so I got a kind of yogurt/oatmeal-ish parfait to settle my stomach, and then we also ate lunch at Cargo Docking Bay 7, where we basically round-robined our meals so we could each try all the entrees. (They were delicious!)
For the record, Rise of the Resistance is absolutely everything they say it is. We actually missed our first shot at a boarding group, but were able to snag one the second time around!
I'm the scaredy-looking one in the back...
but Flight of Passage (not pictured) was amazing!!!
Meg stole my drink! ππ€¦♀️We did get to keep the cup though. π

Then we went to Epcot, where we had a dinner reservation at San Angel Inn Restaurante (see video for details). It was a spur-of-the-moment decision after being just absolutely enchanted by the Mexico Pavilion on Tuesday, and definitely the highlight of the trip for me!
We're pretty sure Meg had more fun with all the kids than she even would have at Disney anyway. π
They went to their cousins' hotel to do some fun activities.
On Thursday, we brought all the kids back for Animal Kingdom! Plus, it finally started to warm up! (Well, in the afternoon, anyway.)
Meg really loved the safari ride, and she even got a nap while we went on the dinosaur ride. ππ»
We ate at Rainforest Cafe for lunch, which is a throwback to my childhood.

After lunch we took the kids over to Hollywood Studios.

Matthew's actually in the car right
behind us, lol, not by himself.
We ended the night with a Skyliner ride. The Skyliner is for resort transportation, but the boys really wanted to ride it, so we had the dads take the van back to our hotel to pick them up after.
The video is the Skyliner during the daytime.
Friday was our last day at the parks, and IT WAS FINALLY WARM!!!!!
Also, verrrrry sunny π
We started out—where else?—at the carousel.
I had hoped to do a few more things, but with the weather finally shaping up, the lines were much longer than they had been, and we only got in two carousel rides and It's a Small World before nap time. We did finally get a chance to see all the "cavalcades," which are like mini-parades at random intervals. They're doing this instead of actual parades (which tend to draw crowds at the posted time) and character meets.
Meg picked out this set of princess dolls from the gift shop. She calls them her "girls" and says that Cinderella and Ariel are best friends.
Friday was my last chance to try a few of the snacks I'd been recommended. The fruit-Nutella-waffle sandwich and macaron/gelato sandwich were delicious! π
While Meg went down for a nap, Matthew was gracious enough to stay with her so I could get back out to Epcot for a bit. There were a couple pavilions we hadn't got to, and also I really wanted to experience the Morocco Pavilion while it was warm... I also happened to find a Photo Pass photographer there, so... glam shots!
I then hopped over to Animal Kingdom to ride Flight of Passage (the Avatar ride—probably my fave in all the parks) and Expedition Everest again, and Matthew and Meg met up with me after she woke up from her nap.
The video is kind of long, but WORTH IT
(if you can't hear Meg very well,
she's saying she wants to quack to get
the tiger to come down by the glass π)
Then we headed back to Magic Kingdom for one more carousel ride (and a better family photo in front of the castle...).
The photographers always make
you do this pose lol
Saw the pumpkin coach from the carousel
and couldn't resist π₯°

Brittany was then kind enough to come to our hotel room to stay with Meg so that Matthew and I could go out on a fancy date night. We ate at Todd English's Bluezoo, and overall it was kind of meh, to tell the truth (although the scallops were delicious!).
Scallop and octopus appetizers
(nothing else was really pretty enough to photograph).
Saturday was our checkout day, so we explored the Little Mermaid and Finding Nemo sections of the resort before packing up and heading home!
Meg managed to sneak out of the room without a mask π³
I went back up and grabbed it as soon as we noticed...
